Astrophysics Senior Honours SeniorHonours

This course is an astronomical project of a theoretical, observational, or computational nature. It aims to develop independence in the skills of experimental design and project management, develop oral reporting skills, and to encourage high quality technical presentation and non-technical written summaries. Project work is your main chance to work on your own topic of interest and to show your own initiative and experimental skills.

Astrophysics Project Coordinator: Professor Andy Taylor (Rm U15 ROE, email: ant@roe.ac.uk ) Please view the project titles, read the descriptions and then choose your top 3 choices by using the online system. Please feel free to contact potential supervisors and discuss the projects before you make your choice. The deadline for submitting your 3 choices is lunchtime Friday 23rd Sept. The project allocations will be distributed to students on Monday the 26th Sept. If you do not choose a project, one will be selected for you.

Note that only one student can do any one project at a time, and a supervisor can only supervise at most two projects at a time, so you may want to think about coordinating project choices. In addition, we try and spread projects over both Semesters. Some students will want to do their project in Semester 1 and others in Semester 2, to fit in with your timetable. The online system will allow you to select your prefered semester as well as your project choices.

SeniorHonours will be assigned and the results made available.

If you are doing an Astrophysics project in Semester 1, see your supervisor on the first next lab day, or contact them and arrange a suitable time. If you are doing an Astrophysics project in the Semester 2, speak with your supervisor soon anyway, just to establish contact.
